BIRD
BATH TIPS
A
birdbath, mister or water garden can be both
beneficial to "your" birds and enhance the look of
your yard, deck or patio. Keep in mind its safety
first, for both you and the birds. Sound and water
flow are good attractants so use misters and
drippers when possible.
Keep
the water fresh and clean. Stagnant and fouled
water can present a health hazard for the
birds.
Baths
without a water source will require refilling
and cleaning on a regular basis.
Enzymes
and water
clarifiers
are available to keep the baths clean and
sparkling.
Some
baths are available with a filter and
re-circulation system or can be connected
directly to a water hydrant. These systems
require more initial set up time but are easier
to maintain and require less time in the long
run.
Keep
your safety in mind when installing pumps and other
electrical equipment. Use an electrical outlet with
GFCI protection for all outdoor electrical
requirements. If your home is not so equipped, a
local electrician can install one for you. We offer
a GFCI
equipped socket
for your convenience or you can acquire one from
your local hardware store.
